"Robert, thank you for your guidance, support and advice on the key things to look for when buying a contemporary Aboriginal artwork. I had no idea about how to ensure authenticity or how to tell the difference in the materials used by an artist. More importantly I now know the difference between quality artworks and cheap tourist art. And I feel so much more confident in being able to find good quality artworks to add to my collection."

    A little about us

We are Robert and Arkie Barton, an Australian father-daughter duo who create and exhibit contemporary Aboriginal artworks and paintings. I've been an artist for more than 10 years and my daughter's been creating since she was a toddler. Arkie's now 13 years of age. Please see our Curriculum Vitae for a more detailed view of our artistic experience and achievements.

Interest has grown significantly in our contemporary Aboriginal art and we now exhibit and sell our artworks all over the world. We have works in private and corporate collections in Australia, England, Germany, Brazil, Japan, and the US. While based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, we exhibit our paintings and artworks widely both in Australia and overseas. Our paintings and artworks have been featured in various media including print news, radio and television.

Our contemporary Aboriginal artworks and paintings feature original themes, ideas and personal insights which we communicate through the use of traditional Aboriginal iconography and symbols, vibrant colours, unique textures and specially developed painting techniques. (Read more about our work in How we create).

"You cannot experience one of Robert's works without being engaged and enriched - to walk away a more fulfilled person for having seen something that changed the way you see all things afterward this is the power of Robert's work "

Dr Chris Sarra, Chair, Australia Council's
National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Board and
    2004 Queensland of the Year
